Born and raised in Montreal, Quebec, Ann Smithers now resides in Oakville, Ontario. During her high school years, she studied at the Montreal Museum of Fine Art under the direction of the late Arthur Lismer (1885-1969) who was considered to be the great teacher of the “Group of Seven”. Encouraged by this award, Ann enrolled in the School of Fine Art at Sir George Williams University (now Concordia). Later, she served her apprenticeship with a large renowned Montreal Art Studio.
